My language learning goals this semester (S4B)
🇬🇧 English
Stop doing exercises.
I managed to get everything in English around me : social networks, lessons, movies… I even speak English with my boyfriend, but I still make mistakes.
So basically my goals this year are :
🔹 Finish my language learning apps
• Duolingo - I have a golden tree which means I have made the highest level of each lesson, but I'm still at the level 21 so I still need to practice until I reach the level 25.
• Busuu - I think I'll spend a large part of the year doing a lesson every morning, as usual. I use this website to improve my grammar, and at the same time to learn some specific vocabulary and nuanced expressions on useful topics (like job seeking, or trip planning).
• Memrise - I'm currently learning the TOEFEL vocabulary
🔹 Keep taking psychology lessons in English : As I don't have any of them uni this semester, I plan to finish the MOOC from HarvardX I started last summer.
🔹 And finally reach a level which allows me stop doing scholar exercises, and just practice in real life !
🇪🇸 Spanish
Don't forget the language.
I have a good conversational level, I can make friends and all, but I still make a lot of mistakes. I know I won't improve my level this year, but I aim to watch a show or talk to someone once in a while, just to make sure I don't forget.
(See, I'm posting in English and I don't even know if I'll translate the article in Spanish as I used to do last summer)
🇨🇳 Mandarin Chinese
Reach the level of my classes at the Confucius Institute.
It's hard to me because I can't remember a word if I don't know how to spell it, so I have to learn every single character on the first time we see it in class.
♦️ I have a plan to learn characters (it's something I already do, but I'm not that consistent)
• Les petits Mandarins - various little exercices on flashcards, mostly for characters and vocabulary, following the HSK levels.
• Drops - vocabulary by themes with a cute design, I choose the lessons depending on what I'm learning at the Confucius Institute.
♦️ Keep on going with my apps to use the characters in context and improve my grammar
• Duolingo - translation of daily life sentences
• Busuu - to start thinking in the language
♦️ And obviously review my lessons (I hope everyday) to learn them step by step
🇩🇰 Danish
Build the routine with my boyfriend, and become familiar with the language.
We just started learning it together because we have a project in Denmark, and he's not used to studying consistently. For the moment, we use Drops five minutes at night, and we do a little conversation together to discover the next sentence we need to learn. So I just wanna build a strong routine with him, have fun, and see where we go !
Edit 01/9 : I just added personal goals for this language, because I wanted to improve my level faster than I did. So I started taking grammar lessons on apps, increase the amount of vocabulary I learn each day, and watch a video everyday (for the moment on EasyDanish). I also try to use every of this in our little conversations.
🎊 Happy New Year 🎊
I'm still learning English, it would help me a lot if you tell me in the comments when you see a mistake 🙃
